Brand review

Three original Bobby Pricing brand candidates

Compare the directions side by side, inspect each in light and dark, test the mark at small sizes, and download the real vector and raster assets.

All candidates: awaiting Product Owner selection

Nothing on this page approves, preselects or recommends a candidate. Selection happens outside this site by explicit decision of Alexander van den Berg. Every preview uses clearly labelled synthetic example businesses and fictional prices.

Side-by-side comparison

Candidate 1

Ledger Ladder

Structured price ladder in a solid container

Positions Bobby Pricing as the disciplined instrument that turns scattered rates into a deliberate ladder. The rising rule-lines read as a price list, a tier structure, and an upward move at once, without borrowing trading or banking imagery. The solid container keeps the mark stable on service menus, invoices and printed boards.

Downloads

Real files served from /images/c1-ledger-ladder/ — vector SVG and raster PNG (marks 512×512, wordmarks 1560×390).

Risks and limitations

  • Horizontal-bar marks are a crowded category; trademark clearance would need a real search before adoption.
  • The solid container needs generous clear space or it competes with app chrome.
  • Amber on parchment is decorative only — it fails text contrast at small sizes and must stay non-textual.

Distinguishing: The only candidate with a filled container mark and a document/ledger character.

Accessibility and contrast

  • Ink Navy on Parchment: approx 13.9:1 — passes AAA for body text.
  • Parchment on Ink Navy: approx 13.9:1 — passes AAA in dark mode.
  • Signal Amber on Ink Navy: approx 7.4:1 — passes AA for text, reserved for emphasis.
  • Signal Amber on Parchment: approx 1.9:1 — decorative use only, never text.

Candidate 2

Open Bracket

A value held between two brackets

Pricing is a decision with a defensible range, not a single guessed number. Two open brackets hold a confident dot: the price you commit to, framed by the reasoning around it. The mark is typographic rather than pictorial, so it sits naturally beside numbers and reads as a software product rather than a retail sticker.

Downloads

Real files served from /images/c2-open-bracket/ — vector SVG and raster PNG (marks 512×512, wordmarks 1560×390).

Risks and limitations

  • Bracket forms can read as generic developer branding if the accent dot is dropped.
  • Syne is distinctive and polarising; it needs a review against long service names.
  • At 16px the two brackets can merge visually with the dot on low-DPI screens.

Distinguishing: The most typographic and software-native of the three; no container, no pictorial object.

Accessibility and contrast

  • Forest Ink on Chalk: approx 10.8:1 — passes AAA for body text.
  • Chalk on Forest Ink: approx 10.8:1 — passes AAA in dark mode.
  • Mint Signal on Forest Ink: approx 5.0:1 — passes AA for normal text.
  • Mint Signal on Chalk: approx 2.1:1 — decorative only, never text.

Candidate 3

Modular Tag

A price tag assembled from modular blocks

A price is built, not found. Seven soft squares and one directional wedge assemble into a tag silhouette — modular, reconfigurable, and clearly about composed offers, packages and add-ons. Warm clay and graphite keep it human and practical for trades and home-service businesses without any discount-sticker cheapness.

Downloads

Real files served from /images/c3-modular-tag/ — vector SVG and raster PNG (marks 512×512, wordmarks 1560×390).

Risks and limitations

  • Modular grids are a common startup device; distinctiveness rests on the wedge and colour pairing.
  • Fraunces is a variable serif — subsetting and weight pinning are needed to control print and web weight.
  • Clay on Bone is warm but sits close to some trade-sector palettes; clearance review recommended.

Distinguishing: The only candidate that is pictorial (a tag) and the only one pairing a serif display face.

Accessibility and contrast

  • Graphite on Bone: approx 13.2:1 — passes AAA for body text.
  • Bone on Graphite: approx 13.2:1 — passes AAA in dark mode.
  • Clay on Bone: approx 4.9:1 — passes AA for normal text.
  • Ochre on Bone: approx 2.0:1 — decorative only, never text.
